Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.9/100, a mean average of 78.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.2/100. The standard deviation for this album is 11.4.

There is a lot of quality scattered across this record and there are quite a few deep cuts that deserve more attention as they don't really receive it. The song opens with Our Faces Split The Coast In Half which is simply brilliant and might be my favourite track on the record. It is so upbeat and makes me feel so overjoyed whenever I start this record which is a perfect start. They continue creating this feeling throughout the rest of the tracks as well. The way they structure their songs is great and they always have multiple songs on albums that hook me into playing on repeat. This album is no exception with 7/4(Shoreline) and Swimmers being the top picks for me. It is also quite decent lyrically and is detailed in its sound. However, the issue I have with this album is the length which does feel unnecessary and bloated. There are way to many tracks on here and the record could almost be cut down by 20 or so minutes. There is a lot of filler as well which is quite weak in comparison to the better tracks. Overall, a good record by this group but it doesn't compare to YFIIP.

It's like a fusion of Radiohead, Sonic Youth, My Bloody Valentine and even traces of Arcade Fire. Such an awe inspiring album, packed with emotion, I can't wait to listen to more of this band!

To me, it feels like BSS made this album exactly how they wanted it to be made, which is awesome and turned out spectacular, but it's very noisy. Lots of layers of noise that can make it hard to pick out exactly what is going on, which contributes to YFIIP being the better album. It's especially overwhelming on Handjobs For The Holidays and Superconnected. All that being said, the songwriting is really great and the album really flows. The highlights (to me): 7/4 Shoreline, Hotel, It's All Gonna Break.

Like below said, I found this to be as good, if not better than YFIIP.

It's so damn upbeat and cheerful. I don't know what it does to me but it puts me in a happy mood whenever I listen to it.

Great album!

Highlights: Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day), 7/4 (Shoreline), Major League Debut, Windsurfing Nation, Handjobs for the Holidays, It's All Gonna Break.

Connor is right. How is this ignored? It's almost as good as YFIIP.

My favorite Broken Social Scene album and the newest found addition to my top 10 albums. The sonic disorder is soothing, the album is the embodiment of the perfectly designed roller coaster with that steep climb to the first highest peak followed by an amazing ride with a couple of twists, turns, a loop or two, and a few smaller peaks and a gravity defying finale that shatters my mind every time, making for quite the ride. Yes, that first peak is 7/4 (Shoreline).
