Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. You probably need to be an Ant fan to like this because if you aren't there is nothing ground breaking to hear. Some nonsensical lyrics but overall, for me, its enjoyable pop-rock. It's not surprising he took a break after this one, it's like the idea's have run out and it's almost like he's just doing what is expected of him. I would recommend listening to more mature Adam Ant though, and check out his later effort 'Wonderful'.
