Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 73.4/100, a mean average of 72.1/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 15.5.

As good as this album's predecessors (Antidotes and Total Life Forever) are, Holy Fire marked a slight change in Foals to become a little heavier. Tracks like Providence and Inhaler would have been out of place on the previous two albums, but fit perfectly on this - my favourite Foals album. But it's not just a heavy rock album - there is plenty of diversity, with quieter tracks like Late Night and the final track Moon. A very consistent album with no real weak tracks. My highlights are Inhaler, My Number and Everytime.
Inhaler is a fantastic song. These ideas had great potential, but they didn't realize them. It stayed in an almost mediocre/average area for most of the record.
Du bon et du moins bon sur cet album mais l'impression générale est bonne. Morceau préféré Inhaler.
To be honest I don't understand the hate for this album. I don't rate it better than the first 2 (especially the first one by Foals), but still I love some of the tracks, like Inhaler and Late Night.
7+/10
I really dug the single "My Number", but the rest of the album doesn't hold up as well. And I think relative to the potential Foals had shown, this album doesn't really sound special, more like all the rest.
Favourite Foals album so far
I'm guilty, your honor. After many years of countless radiohead clones copied themselves by numerous coldplay and muse wannabes like keane and the magic numbers (and that was 8 years ago!), i swore off further generations of groups striving for some leaf off the grand radiohead tree. Cheap knockoffs still are born today. As unbelievable as i find it, and as long as foals has been around, i shouldn't be accusing them of mimicking radiohead like i am nor can i keep from liking this album. It's really a fine album with soaring-yet-subdued choruses and a full wall of guitar to flush out the sound. Ironically, if it weren't for the lead singer's 4th generation eddie vedder -like grungy groany, low register vocals, i'd like this even more.
Don't care for the album too much. Not bad, not great. Some nice songs, but the majority of the songs are just slightly (above) average.
Best album from Foals, great from start to finish. Even a couple of weaker tracks as Stepson and Everytime don't really spoil it because the other are just awesome. Inhaler, My Number and Providence are powerful songs, Late Night, Milk & Black Spiders and Moon are really beautiful ones. And Prelude is a great opener as well. My favourite album of 2013.
Good album! i like the song My number
