Truly her best, still growing after all those years. Birds is such an incredible song, sad she didn't score a better result at Malmö (but her qualification to the final and top 10 finish was more of a victory than the actual winner). The Rules is great too.

You should check this album. It comes with the song Birds Anouk sung on ESC 2013 in Malmo. She ended 9th place there. In fact she was a moral winner. All the other songs are what ESC songs always are, pretty meaningless. Anouk songs are sensitive, all of them. With a lot of life experience in them. They are all fine meaningful poetry and they give us a deep insight in her life and her art of singing and creating music. Anouk explored a wide reach of styles. But all these styles never escape her personality. And that's how her mosaic music fits together to show us the whole of her soul and the depths of her thoughts. Both her latest albums show us new ways exploring music. In this case, more than in any other album of her, the songs have a strong relation with each other. The dark side of Anouk seems to show a more homogeneous side, resulting in a dito album. Her pure, wonderful voice, convinces us where to follow. And as you recognise the meaning and mood, sometimes familiar to your own experience, coming together in her voice, these songs become your pals for a lifetime. Anouk created a very special album, it's overall blue, but never dull, listening to it relieves and comforts. So don't miss it.
