Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.4/100, a mean average of 71.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.9.

The last Oils album I would like . Some cracking tracks here in 'Feeding Frenzy' , 'My Country' , 'Truganini' and ' Earth Sun and Moon' . Such a beautiful album

This was the last great Midnight Oil album. The last three lacked the catchy hooks and harmonies that keep me coming back to this and their earlier albums. My Country and Truganini are the highlights for me.

Last of a run of brilliant albums that commenced with Head Injuries in 1979. Some great anthemic musical arrangements but perhaps just lacking a little of the fire in the belly of previous releases. Sounding a bit middle aged in the circumstances is fair enough.

My Country, Bushfire and Truganini are all classic Oils and help further the greatness of a great band. Imho this is the Oils' second best album, ahead of Blue Sky Mining and others.
And @Rovers is right on about In the Valley. I totally forgot how great that song is.

Truganini, Tell Me The Truth and My Country are the best here. Lovely later album by this bunch. Had it as a favorite for a while.

"Earth and Sun and Moon" from 1993 continues Midnight Oil's commercial success of their two previous albums, "Diesel and Dust" and "Blue Sky Mining". Though a new producer, Nick Launay, was called in to produce, it's another slightly slick produced album - which is in no way meant as a negative observation. All three albums are among my favourites and all contain great songs and great playing.

Midnight Oil succeeds in combining various musical styles like, rock, soul, funk or folk into their own easily recognizeable sound. Other strengths are their fine vocal harmonies and their unique sense of creating catchy choruses.

On this album all their virtues are there. The hit single "Truganini", the title-track and "My Country" are fine examples of Midnight Oil soul-rock with a catchy chorus. "Bushfire" is a quiet acoustic track and another favourite.

The outstanding track, though, is the exquisite "In the Valley" - great folkish melody - extremely catchy chorus - clever lyrics - in short one of the few songs that seem to have it all.

This was a great return to form that was nearly as good, if not quite as edgy, as Diesel and Dust.
