Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 67.3/100, a mean average of 65.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 66.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.1.

Essa foi difícil, Neil! Puta merda!
Upped the score as picked the cd up cheap and actually been playing it quite a bit. I agree with tamthebam. I can see why people hate it but thats nearly always the case when he's done something different to his normal style. He's certainly done stuff in recent years that I'm not over keen on (le noise, fork in the road) but this is good. I'm a big young fan so maybe I've given it more a chance than most.
This is Neil singing with either an orchestra or a brass ensemble depending on the track. It is certainly different but the more I listen to it the more it grows on me. Its mostly an album about his divorce & subsequent romance with Daryl Hannah There are also green issues illustrated in the track Who's Gonna Stand Up & Save the Earth. Their is humour here as well as melancholy and love songs. The band & orchestra are something I never expected but it works even with Neil's unusual voice.
