Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 72.7/100, a mean average of 71.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.9.

Savages continue strongly with a second album indebted to the post-punk era. Jehnny and co have fashioned an LP of fist-clenching rock, complete with acerbic lyrics - woe betide you if you want to sing about love in an ordinary way. There is sufficient variety of pace and dynamics to make for an album to be revisited, and the songwriting, which could easily be overlooked, is strong too. There is a dearth of women in rock who can give it hard and remain critically respected; Savages manage both and make it look easy. A very good album.

Solid album, love the first four tracks but towards the end of the album I was losing some interest. I think Jehnny does a solid job on vocals and would categorize this as post punk personally
Not a masterpiece, but much better than the debut album!
This is one the finest rock albums of the last 10-20 years. I like it better than Silence Yourself, they really top themselves. One of my fav records of the year.
Essentially more of the same from one of the better contemporary post-punk bands. Does little to expand upon their forceful debut.
Whilst not nearly as impressive as the debut or displaying any great change this is another fine album from the quartet. Being a very much left-handed pop group their songs work well especially on some of their slower songs where less is most definitely more. Although still sounding heavily indebted to Unknown Pleasures their best moments are when they tear up the rule-book, as seen on the keyboard-dappled Surrender.
Hey, i like Post-Punk music a lot, and this is a great addition to the collection.
Consistently good and nothing more.

6.5
Secsond studio album from Savages with no great changes afoot, sadly. They still sound heavily indebted to Unknown Pleasures, this time the only real difference is the inclusion of some more slower songs with only the keyboard flecked, distortion-heavy Surrender breaking the claustrophobic, hermetically sealed atmosphere. A disappointment, ho hum.
