Strange Girls by sssvnnn
There are some good Charts on BEA with femal artists that inspired me to do a Chart with "Strange Girls"
meaning female artists besides the mainstream and without much public attention.
Most of the picks are somewhere between avantgarde, rock, folk, jazz, worldmusic.
I didn`t notice the big commercial stars (no Lady Gaga, Adele, Shakira, Sade...)
or artists in the BEA top 100 (no Kate Bush, Björk, Joni Mitchell...) or bands with female singers ( no Portishead, Sonic Youth...).

Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some charts can have several thousand ratings)
This chart is rated in the top 2% of all charts on BestEverAlbums.com. This chart has a Bayesian average rating of 91.1/100, a mean average of 92.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 92.4/100. The standard deviation for this chart is 7.1.

thanks for this, some stuff i need to check out!
all very beautiful !!!
Excellent. So many singers I do not know. There is no need to excuse to leave Lady Gaga out if you do not like her. But leaving out Kate Bush, just because she is in the Top 100 seems a bit eccentric.
Yes!!! Love the sentiment behind this chart and choice of genres that are off the beaten track - real pleasure. Will definitely trawl through these - great to see on such a male-dominated website
is "nico" a genre?
Could use more Laurie Anderson and Nina Hagen though. They have several more good ones I would have liked to see. I got to try to find out who most of these people are, they sound fascinating
I love Laurie Anderson but no Mr. Heartbreak Of Bright Red/Tightrope?
Like the Moe Tucker picks as well
I know she more famous than most but Grace Slick has to be on any female artist list.
interesting chart though
Nice one, sssvnnn!
Zaz ???
You are not serious !
Good chart except for Zaz !
Zaz before P.J. Harvey ?? No !!!!!
