This is such a good album, I should listen to this more often really. When I had a CD player in the car it was played regularly. I would love to track this down on vinyl, if indeed it was ever released on that format. Worth owning for Take These Pearls and Walking Away From Rainbows Alone.

I think this has to be my favourite JMJ album. I listened to the tape for hours driving up and down motorways some 30 years ago! I recently got this on vinyl re-issue although I still have the tape. I liked this album so much when it was issued that I bought the full musical score and ended up sequencing with my own arsenal of musical gagetary. The way Jarre constructs his tracks is both simple and complex. The repeating patterns are gradually built into something epic. The music is generally more melodic than Tangerine Dream but there are similarities with TD's eighties work.

Out of the Strange Cargo trilogy, this is my favourite. All credit to the genius of synth and sampling.

There are some beautiful tracks on this album like 'Moments of Pleasure' and 'Song of Solomon' where the sound is more stripped back with piano, subtle synth textures and haunting vocals. I prefer these tracks to the more 'poppy' style offerings. Overall I like the album which borders prog in one direction and pop in the other.

I still have the original tape! It plays great and sounds superb through my recently acquired Denon tape deck, Rega amp and B & W speakers, a damn site better than it ever sounded in my tinny car stereo some years ago. I also have this album as a vinyl re-issue which is a far better listeneing experience than the tape. It is like listening to a new album through decent audio kit and has re-awakened me to the fact that it was a reasonable album. I really like 'Zooropa' and 'Lemon', 'Babyface' is a bit weak, musically and lyrically. 'Numb' would quite happily sit on a Radiohead album so must have sounded way ahead of its time in 1993. Bit of a mixed bag really. Can't help but mention the Audi song! 'Vorssprung Durch Technik' and 'The Appliance of Science' in one song, now convince me that wasn't borrowed from the Audi advert at the time?

Overlooked 'modern' progressive album. Not Beautiful Anymore and Always Never are the standouts.
