Perfection flows through this album. Though there isn't a dull song on here. Except how these songs are ordered. The final song after "There is a Light that Never Goes Out". Morrisery is at his top here. Maybe some exceptions to Louder than Bombs or Hateful of Hollow. But c'mon. Johnny Marr's guitar skills are top notch as well. [First added to this chart: 04/04/2024]

One of the greatest anthem intros to an album. Every song sounds too pop. Not nowadays pop. No. Though that John Entwistle part, on “My Wife” sings: “Machine Gun” is a real banger. Most songs feel too safe. Most songs are overplayed on this album. In a really bad way. That dulls this album. I’m not even impressed by Roger’s great shouts. Hope you lived under a rock. Disintegration has this very Midi synth tone throughout the album. It sounds great, trippy as well, like sound blasting to another era. Take Plainsong for example. All atmospheric in this clever gothic (a lighter still darkened enough world like Joy Division and indie too), a very personalized view of the world “The Cure” has created for us. But most songs are very forgettable and stretched out longer than typical 2-3 minute radio pop songs. Yet, most notable songs remain an absolutely S-Tier listen: Love Song, (of course), Lullaby, and most notably, just the title track echoes pure innocence. Fast-forward my strangest criticism has to be clear: a sleepy time, pretty windchimes. Robert Smith, a great lyricist, puts out an important album for an era of ready and patient listeners. Because if it wasn’t for this album. I wouldn’t see a girl with a Robert Smith t-shirt. [First added to this chart: 04/04/2024]
