Another excellent acoustic track.
“Friends” is by far the best track on a great, consistent and surprising album. “Friends” has a haunting dark charm and benefits from a Middle Eastern tone. The strings arrangements are wonderful. The vocals and guitar are tense and ominous. The Moog that closes “Friends” is a little weird but it opens wonderfully for the next track. I once saw Zep performing the track life with African musicians and African percussionists in some television performance. Bloody brilliant. Zep never surpassed this. While reading reviews, I always wonder why this Led Zeppelin III gem is rarely mentioned or appreciated.
I never figured out why I love this song so very much. One of my all time favorites. An intruiging drive. Brilliant guitar performance and even better performed vocals.

After The Immigrant Song, this is the song that truly slips this album into its more acoustic groove, and does so very well.
I love the way this track builds, it's an avant-psychedelia masterpiece.
One of my all time Zep favourites
A much cooler song than I expected. A mix of genres with a very good tune.
