Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 1% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 89.0/100, a mean average of 88.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 89.4/100. The standard deviation for this track is 12.0.

While the title track captures the zeitgeist of the peace movement and is a good hymn for humanism, I kind of think Jealous Guy is the crown jewel of the album, in stead of preaching Lennon is speaking from the heart for Yoko, their is more honesty and sincerity here, and the whistling is a nice addition. My favorite.
I'm surprised in all those comments on 'Imagine' that nobody had pointed out how that song has been played to death over the years. I missed the original release in the UK but it was reissued and charted again in 75, 80 and 2000 something. I'm so over-familiar with it that I don't really hear it anymore, it just washes over me. That's not a criticism of the song, but you can hear anything too much eventually.
With 'Jealous Guy' the opposite is true, for me, because I didn't buy this album until the 1980's and I was familiar with the smoother, more commercial Roxy Music version so to hear the rougher, more honest original was refreshing.
He certainly was, from what I understand
