Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 70.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.2/100. The standard deviation for this track is 15.9.

The lyrics describe a child, or more correctly a woman, of nature by a lake with lillies and being dried by the sun after swimming. Not sure if she is Gomper. 'Gomper' is a strange title. The core members of the band spent some time in Morocco in 67 and the main chunk of this song is heavilly inspired by that. After the brief singing part, which is light and pleasant, the instrumental part starts in ernest but seems more controlled and disciplined than the catastrophe that ended Side One. Can't quite put my finger on why I really like this but I do - all of it. Like Fry's Turkish Delight, it's full of Eastern promise.
Like the preceding track, the lantern, this is one of those songs that is completely impossible to remember how it goes when it's not playing. When it is though, it starts of fine for a few minutes and then it just drifts into a a mess of a track for it's final few minutes. So-so.
