Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some tracks can have several thousand ratings)
This track is rated in the top 4% of all tracks on BestEverAlbums.com. This track has a Bayesian average rating of 81.9/100, a mean average of 81.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 82.0/100. The standard deviation for this track is 13.9.

This track contains all the right notes but they are not necessarily played in the right order.
What a shame.
Sounds like a mouse was let loose in the studio and left to run amok over the instruments while the guys were outside having a blow.
Spoils what could have been one of the best albums of all time.
I see how Moonchild is an odd track on this album. It is a composition that has little to no connection with the rest of the album. As long as it is, this has quite an impact on the listening experience. Not everyone is a fan of this style of music.
I like it. But I believe the album would be better with a track from In the wake of Poseidon instead of this one.
The low point of the album. If the last 10 minutes was cut down to about 3 or so, this would be my favorite album of all time.
If you remove the final 8 minutes of Moonchild and replace them with one of the songs on In the Wake of Poseidan (such as the Devil's Triangle or Cat Food) this would be the greatest album of all time.
This track is a pretentious mound of garbage on an otherwise incredible album. 8 minutes in I'm like why is Crimson making me listen to this? ...omg staaahhp.
Anyone who thinks they like this is lying to themself.
The last 10 minutes are really cool. It's like the instruments are having a conversation.
The first 2 minutes of this song are amazing. The other 10 or so minutes are also very good but in a different way. It more helps to set the mood of the album and prepares you for the next song than delivering a really good song.
Really hypnotizing music
I think that you should like this song to deeply understand the musical universe of this magnificent album.
It does what it tries to do brilliantly, but it is definitely the lowpoint of the album.
