Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 3% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.2/100, a mean average of 76.0/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.4/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.6.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this sounds like a guy who is at the top of his genre. Breathtaking. A mixing CLINIC as per usual from Caribou

It's very cool. Colorful piece of electronic music that gets better with each listen.

I thought I had at least rated this, even though I've been listening to it since a little after it was released. At any rate, this is an incredible album that has been rather enduring. I know it has only been a few years, but given the way electronic music has evolved, this is still quite impressive. Very catchy, and very nice to listen to, still.

I cannot deny the delight of Caribou's 2007 album titled Andorra, but this album (live or otherwise) is a spirited blend of bass, quick percussion and a wall of sound that rivals their more solemn contemporaries. "Bowls" mixes sounds of metal clickers and Chinese Baoding balls into an energy sure to raise the listeners qi. Other songs like "Odessa" and "Leaf House" focus their energy into quirky danceable creations. The album concludes with a high energy breakup song that leaves the listener a bit unsettled. The ending is liberating in a way and it suggests an ellipses and subsequent continuation of ideas. If that is the case, I'm anxious to see what's next.

I had the pleasure of seeing Caribou twice last year (he actually came to the exact same venue twice within three months - I guess we must have done something good) and each show was incredible. Swim is no different, and it is nothing short of electronic goodness. Odessa is a smash-hit opener, but all of the songs bring their own element to the table.

The first track "Odessa" is one of the best songs of 2010.
