Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 6% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.9/100, a mean average of 74.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 76.0/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.7.

One of my favourite bands. Some incredible instrumentals on this album. Foals' debut album Antidotes was great, but Total Life Forever took them to a new level. Black Gold and Blue Blood are standouts, but it is a very consistent album. Shout out to this Orient and 2 Trees which fly under the radar but are excellent. Great lyric on Black Gold - "The future is not what it used to be".
This albums needs some love, no reviews in years. Still sounds unbelievable.
fun, energetic, and intricate. the first half is very catchy and loaded with great instrumentation, and the second half serves as a mellower comedown. more mature than antidotes and with far better songwriting than holy fire, in my opinion, this is their best work
Another beautiful album. The first 6 tracks, especially Spanish Sahara that I deem one of the best tracks of the 2010's, are all, one by one, catchy and beautiful. Total Life Forever reminds me of lots of different genres and I love it. As I said though, the first 6 tracks are all one better than the one before, but the last 5 ones are really, really useless.
7,5/10, would have been an 8,5 (!) though.
Suffers from the "Oracular Spectacular Syndrome". The first six tracks are amazing, the rest of the album is completely meh. Kinda disappointing, because if the rest were up to par, the album would easily rank among my favorites ever. Still a great album, all things considered, not many albums have the quality of those first 6 tracks
Best tracks: This Orient, Spanish Sahara, Total Life Forever
One of those albums that I loved at the time and has stuck with me ever since. The best that Foals have to offer to date.
What the fuck are those four guys giving this a 5/100 at the exact same time?
I think this is still moving up my list as time goes on. Not only is it a solid, consistent album, you are starting to see its influence on others. There's an 80s-ish feel to this maybe but it's also truly contemporary. Nary a bad track.
