Rating metrics: Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)

This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.4/100, a mean average of 79.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 14.6.

Alice has always been subject to evaluation thru his stage shows, and the music itself is sometimes forgotten. This album is so good.

Rock supreme with a touch of prog and a bit of concept thrown in. A great album from start to finish. The last 3 songs are the icing on the cake for me. A forgotten gem when it comes to albums from this era. Highly under rated

Spectacular record. There is a brilliance at work here. The big hit "I'm Eighteen" is actually the weakest track on the record. This would be the start of a great run for Alice and the original band. This album has aged well...especially the lyrics. They continue to remain relevant.
"I want everything the world owes me...I tell it to myself and I agree." Man, they are TEACHING this in colleges today.

Starts with three punk metal tracks (anticipating the hair metal 80s), then comes a 10 minute Doors-style jam, while tracks 6 & 7 do a Jethro Tull thing for some reason, and I don't even know what track 9 is. Dang it, why can't albums today be this lovably random?

Best known for the hit single Eighteen, but there are a ton of great songs on this one. Ballad of Dwight Frye is creepy as hell, Caught in a Dream is a great rocker and Is It My Body is a great psychedelic blues number. This is the perfect bridge between Alice's late-60's psychedelic period and early 70's hard rock stuff.

This is such a great album. It has the classic rock sound but then it surprises you with the creepy psychedelic Black Juju. Every song is great except I'm not sure how I feel about Sun Arise. It's an interesting way to end the album to say the least..
