Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 14% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 74.5/100, a mean average of 74.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.8/100. The standard deviation for this album is 10.9.

This album is a clear departure from the ole style R&B and soul sound. This is heavier, complicated, rockier, and funkier.
Some good songs but not very adventurous. "Dance to the Music" is a classic and the medley isn't bad either.
Some great songs on the first side. Loses focus once it hits the second side tho
Some of the greatest American musicians have been, primarily, bandleaders. Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bob Wills, James Brown, Zappa, George Clinton, this guy. He's playing with the tone colors that his musicians can put together, layering combinations, and keeping it shifting. In 1968, a lot of music was getting pretty wordy, this is all about sound. George Clinton is a genius for sure, but I'm not sure we get P-Funk without Sly Stone showing the way. The first album was good, but this is the album where he laid the cornerstone for all that. Funk masterpiece right here.
I miss funky soul music. This is of course a great record not their best but pretty damn good.
I consider myself a big fan of Sly, yet this album fell pretty flat except for the first track of course.
Pretty cool album, I wouldný say it's as good as Stand! or There's a riot going on but it's not that far of. It was a really influential album on funk and listening to it today still makes you wanne dance.
