Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 64.5/100, a mean average of 60.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 60.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.1.

Three Days Grace, to me, has always been a singles band. Each album has a couple really good songs on it, but the rest of the album leaves something to be desired. This is better, probably their best album so far. The lead single, “Chalk Outline" is absolutely awesome. The sound is good, the guitar work on most of the songs is pretty cool, and the overall sound is a little bit different than most Three Days Grace fans are used to. Nothing drastic, but a bit different. One thing that certainly isn’t different is the lyrics. Now I can’t say that I’m coming to Three Days Grace expecting beautiful poetry, but it would be nice if every now and then they didn’t write a song about being depressed and angry. Even the song “Happiness" on the album is about crippling alcoholism. But the album is good overall, I enjoyed it and if you’re a Three Days Grace fan, you’ll enjoy it too. And as a little added bonus, there’s a cover of the Michael Jackson song “Give In To Me" which you may remember as that Michael Jackson song that Slash played on in 1991.
