Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 78.1/100, a mean average of 77.2/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 78.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 17.1.

I really like this album, sometimes I prefer British Steel and the main reason is consistency, while some tracks like Riding On The Wind, Electric Eye, You've Got Another Thing Comin are great and are top tier metal songs, there are some stinkers here (Fever, Pain & Pleasure, Take These Chains). This is still one of the most solid heavy metal records ever. I also really love the artwork here.
I had never realised this album only came out only two years after British Steel, an album that sits firmly in the NWOBHM classic albums camp as does this one. Bloodstone, You’ve Got Another Thing Coming and Take These Chains are the highlights in my opinion. Some superb guitar work which makes the album for me.
Not one bad song, great album. JP at its best. Bloodstone is a gem.
My top pick from JP.
A solid album, essential for heavy metal fans.
Good Priest album. Not there best but up there. Reason being, the standout tracks are killer (Electric Eye, Riding on the Wind, & title track), however there are a few to many that are average if not bordering on filler (Bloodstone, Pain & Pleasure, Take these Chains) to make this top the list as personal favorite.
Another great one from Priest. Includes some classic tracks but also some overlooked - more melodic - gems, like "Fever" or "Bloodstone".
It's on the whole very enjoyable. Classic face-melting shred-metal. They really have a knack for great riffs on this. Electric Eye, Riding on the Wind and You've Got Another Thing Coming (Which I still know all the words to since it was on Guitar Hero 2 for PS2 back in the day) are highlights. My other take-away form this is that I have a hard time to relate to the lyrics. There is so much drama. Like "Screaming For Vengeance!", who really does that in real life? You plot revenge yes. But screaming for vengeance seems like something Mel Gibson does in Braveheart. I realize that it's probably a metaphor.
While not all songs are hits, when screaming for vengeance finds its mark strong riffs and soaring vocals illuminate.
One of the best Priest records. The Hellion/Electric Eye are clear highlights for me, fantastic riffs and vocals. Many other classics too: Screaming For Vengeance, Riding On The Wind, You've Got Another Thing Coming...
