Barring Wiley (who is, to many a British youth, a messianic figure), Terror Danjah is grime's greatest producer. As the great journalist and author of Rip It Up and Start Again (yes, that one) Simon Reynolds observes in this compilation's liner notes, "ninety-five percent of grime beats are strictly functional". Not for Terror Danjah. His beats are rich in texture, aurally intrusive and, above all, memorable. His drums - as inventively programmed as any in grime ever - hit hard, his synths sound real and his innate sense for the unnerving is, well, unnerving. This is as good as instrumental grime will ever get. And if 'Zumpi Hunter' or 'Piano Madness' don't make you want to start pulling up lamposts, you're dead inside.
