Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 2% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 79.7/100, a mean average of 78.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 79.7/100. The standard deviation for this album is 16.0.

Random Access Memories, dropped in 2013, is Daft Punk’s love letter to the late '70s and early '80s music scene. The album is a masterful blend of disco, funk, and electronic vibes, packed with creativity and soul. It feels like a nostalgic journey while still pushing the boundaries of what electronic music can be.
The opening track, "Give Life Back To Music," sets the tone with its groovy beats and smooth guitars. And then there's "Get Lucky," featuring Pharrell Williams, which became an instant classic with its infectious rhythm and catchy hook. Another standout is "Touch," featuring Paul Williams, which is an epic, emotional rollercoaster.
What’s really cool about Random Access Memories is how it incorporates live instrumentation and collaborations with a diverse range of artists. It’s clear Daft Punk put a lot of love and effort into this album, and it shows in the quality of the music.
If you’re looking for an album that’s both a throwback and a fresh experience, Random Access Memories is a must-listen. Daft Punk’s ability to blend different genres and create something unique is on full display here. Pop it on and let the good times roll.
10 years later I listened to this album again, I was stunned by the impact, it seemed like everything was new. This album is a masterpiece now I understand, after listening so many times in 13\14 now I understand after all these years.
This one was huge when it came out. Full of great music and hit tracks.
It hasn't aged amazing but still pretty good.
I was a real brat about this one when it came out. A decade later, and with a better understanding of DP's sound and career, I can appreciate just how exciting this is and how well it has aged. It's nothing short than a loving and exhilarating history of popular music from the 1960s onward. A lush odyssey of disco, rock, dance, and electronica with some of the influences and beneficiaries Daft Punk could assemble. Even when some of the cuts wander without much reward, RAM is exquisite. And luckily, there's plenty to adore.
Commercially successful but packed full of ambition. The album is full of moments that look to the future of music while paying homage to styles and genres of years gone by.
Viagem de tempo espetacular... Tanto para o passado quanto para o futuro.
A bit too long, so doesn't really work as an album for me. But there are some highlights - Motherboard, Give Life Back To Music, Doing It Right and Get Lucky (although it was massively overplayed when it came out).
This album could definitely be trimmed down quite a bit with the 1 hour and 15 minute run time really pushing the concentration of the listener. There just isn't enough variation to keep someone engaged for that long and with there being quite a few tracks I would consider filler, it did become quite a slog to get through. Despite this, there are great songs present that do really carry the album and are some of Daft Punk's best tracks ever. The features are a real strength as well such as Panda Bear and Nile Rodgers being my favourites. You also have to give a lot of credit to the production which is always flawless and makes for a fantastic listen. Overall, if this record was cut down it would be one of the greatest of all time but unfortunately that hasn't been done
First introduction to Daft Punk, excellent album. It really featured the sound of the futur.
Found more to enjoy on a second listen, but the uneven track quality and overall length tests my patience.
