Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 4% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 77.0/100, a mean average of 76.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 77.3/100. The standard deviation for this album is 13.3.

A very front heavy release with the first four songs being the best on the whole record. After this the album then falls into mainly filler content which makes for an average listen but you feel like there is wasted potential on here. The vocal definitely deserves better as that is the highlight of this record for me. They could have been a bit more experimental with their instrumentation as well or tried to vary the songs a little better to make for a more engaging listen for us. When the record is good, which is quite rare, it is amazing. Nearly Lost You is a fantastic song and the record is worth it just for that track alone. Overall, not much to stay for once your past track 4 but it isn't bad just average and a bit repetitive.
Screaming trees should of been bigger. Mark Lanegan is one of the finest singers with his melodic grunge rock vocals (even though I wouldn't call this grunge at all). This is a hidden gem from that era.
Very consistent with some peaks (Nearly Lost You, For Celebrations Past, Julie Paradise). Everything sounds great here!
Though it may drop at the end, there isn't a single track that will greatly disappoint.
Solid. Love his voice.
Pleasant straight forward blues-rock to my ear. Not sure what's alternative or grunge about it. I am a fan of Mark Lanegan otherwise I would rate it a 70.
I rarely find an album thats half this relentless.
