Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 73.8/100, a mean average of 71.3/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 73.8/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 21.9.

Incredibly overrated. I find only dookie and american idiot listenable, and even then i'm not impressed.
I'll admit that the last decade has been forgettable to say the least for them, but up through 21st Century Breakdown they released nothing but quality albums in my opinion. I can still listen to Kerplunk through 21st Century Breakdown and enjoy every single track from every album.
I have a bit of a soft spot when it comes to this band.
I always hated Green Day. I'll admit their earliest albums have some decent energy, though.
Their track record is too spotty for a top spot despite having a few classic albums.
I don't like much punk but this group is tolerable. Perhaps it's the pop sensibility.
Yes I had Green Day phase, I still know like 50 of their songs, and no they're aren't really good. Still fun to listen to them sometimes.

They were a head above all their 90's punk peers and influenced a ton of pop punk bands throughout the following decade. Everything up until International Superhits was solid gold, but once they released American Idiot they hit a different level. They went from punk studs to superstars seemingly overnight. While I prefer the pre-American Idiot Green Day, you have to appreciate a band that can tweak their image/style and rise to an even higher level. They are first ballot RnR Hall of Famers for a reason.
Terribly overrated pop-punk band whose career peaked with regurgitation of contemporary trite criticism of the Bush administration.
