Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 73.3/100, a mean average of 71.4/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 72.8/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 15.8.

The Best Supergroup in XXI century
we miss you chris
Could not agree more with junodog4. Brilliantly stated.
I have to say I love their first album. It's not a masterpiece but it's great and super powerful. The other two albums they put out I just can't get into nearly the same way I did with the debut. I've heard from the start that Audioslave had some infighting and disagreement over direction of the music.
Plus near the end Chris Cornell's (wonderful and beautiful) vocals were shot. Just look up a live video from around 05 or 06. Guy sounded awful. People wanting an Audioslave reunion need to take that into account. This band was good but not good for his vocal chords.
In the end, I'm glad this group got together. They have some memorable tunes but not much more.
I liked them a lot when they were together, but I'm much happier having Soundgarden back. Hopefully RATM will be able to make some new music together as well.
I suppose this band was doomed to fail from the start. Talk about carrying the burden of high expectations. Perhaps not since Blind Faith has a band been crafted by such superstars, and even more so, in what seemed a holy alliance crafted by gods. The energy and bombast of Rage Against the Machine led by the power and passion of Chris Cornell? As choked as I was to see Rage and Soundgarden break up, I was drooling at the potential of this alliance. For shame. Audioslave were decent, but unspectacular. They were like a first round draft choice that had the potential to be a hall of famer, but ends up being a solid bench player. They have genius potential, but are earning solid B grades. Any other band would have been celebrated for their B grades. Audioslave should have a phd.
