Of all the bands that broke through amongst the wave of Post-Brexit Post Punk in the late 2010s, Fontaines are the ones who have truly gone the distance, evolving not only to define the British and Irish scene, but breaking through completely with their latest album. Enigmatic, moody, driven by the potent lyricism of Grian Chatten and whirling with melancholic, romanticised anxiety at the state of everything. Capable of rollicking choruses and some of the most touching releases in living memory in equal measure. Not only Ireland's greatest living band, but by far and away the most incisive in exploring the experience of Irish culture in wherever the fuck our United Kingdom is heading.
One of the best bands of today! The voice of Grian Chatten is amazing!
