Top 13 Greatest Music Albums by Gopher-and-Sober Unknown

I've gone through many different phases in my music taste, but I've always come back to country. It's what I grew up around. My dad and grandfather were in country bands, and country song-writers have some of the best lyrics in all of music in my opinion. So most of my favorite albums are country.

No other genre justifies live albums more than country music. Johnny Cash is a long, long time favorite of mine. I used to fall asleep listening to an album of his greatest hits. This album encapsulates his down-to-earth style better than any of his others in my opinion.

Another Live Album. Townes is one of the few songwriters I feel really compare with Bob Dylan in terms of craftsman ship. His lyrics are so carefully written yet seem so natural. Most of Townes' albums were over produced, which is one of the reasons he wasn't ever as commercially successful as his protege, Steve Earle. This is just him and his guitar, yet it has a "full" sound, nothing seems missing. It also includes most of his best songs.

One of the most criminally under rated artists of the 20th century. I consider "Clay Pigeons" to be the 3rd greatest country song ever written. Blaze Foley saw little success in his life time. His songs have been covered by John Prine and Merle Haggard, who called Blaze's song "If I Could Only Fly" the best country song he'd heard in 10 years.

Came to see who could possibly give Lateralus 45. Just what I thought. This is a nice representation of mostly good country albums, but nothing special and pretty narrow minded, even for the beginning of a chart. Sorry.
