Top 100 Music Albums of 1964 by Moondance
I turned 8 in 1964 - and was just doing what any 8 year old in Australia was doing - school, sport, hanging with friends, watching black & white TV, catching up with music on the radio - and hearing something different in the sound/accent - yes, the British Invasion had begun.
My favourite songs were: Beatles (Love Me Do/Can't Buy Me Love etc etc); My Boy Lollipop; House of the Rising Sun; Do Wah Diddy Diddy.
1964 would have 2 Dylan albums (that I would 'discover' in a few more years) and the emerging British bands to accompany the stranglehold that The Beatles had on the charts.
In terms of rating 1964 out of the 65 years that make up 1960 to 2024, I place it at around 30th of 65. The 60's music is NOW beginning to have a definitive impact on my life and the soundtrack to my life.
