Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 60.7/100, a mean average of 59.9/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 59.9/100. The standard deviation for this album is 22.7.

This is a decent enough pop album, it's only snobbery that has it rated so lowly here. The A Team is a beautiful song. The other singles are also good. Not a fan of Wake Me Up though. Well worth a listen, he's clearly a very talented singer-songwriter.
The A Team, Lego House and The City are all very good pop tracks. Wake Me Up bugs me. This is a solid enough pop album - there is room for pop, everything doesn't have to be serious and challenging. Sometimes the ears are happy with bubble gum pop
There is no doubt that this artist has once been a fan of Damien Rice. And that he gets a lot of hate because he writes beutiful songs that kids like too. Yes "too". It's the Coldplay Syndrome or guilty pleasure that messes up someones I guess already fragile macho self-image. There is no wheel-inventions on this record and maybe that too is hard for someone to appreciate. Me too I'll never bother returning to this one by own initiative but if ever heard via someone elses speakers I will surely enjoy it and respect the artist' talent for m.o.r. songwriting.
@#$%...underrated
Hahaha I honestly can’t figure out if some of the downvotes are from Ed fans or haters.
Anyway, I think mediocrity is (or at least should be) the biggest insult to an artist. Ed probably doesn’t give a shit what I call him, but I don’t think Ed is an artist either.
Some songs like “The A-Team” seem to go in a right direction for a moment, but that spark is gone quickly. You must be pretty simple-minded to be blown away by this.
It’s about the voice, lyrics and messages? You see, music itself is not about two outta three of those things, and the vocals are not that great either. Maybe listen to some Fleetwood Mac or David Bowie - okay let me give some more recent examples - Drake or Grimes, to hear what real interesting vocalists sound like. Not convinced after that? Well, then it’s agree to disagree.
This album has some really beautiful songs, such as The Team A or Lego House, but it really suffers from a lack of cohesion. 6/10.
For a pop record, this is pretty solid, but is just that, a pop album.
the album doesnt really have consistency in its content matter, but sheeran's incredible voice blended with modest and somewhat impressive instrumentation makes for a decent project. 59/100
Some great songs, some not-so-great songs
Inconsistent, but decent still
