Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album is rated in the top 9% of all albums on BestEverAlbums.com. This album has a Bayesian average rating of 75.1/100, a mean average of 75.6/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 75.6/100. The standard deviation for this album is 12.4.

Worth the listen, definitely for the track "Cruiser", have that song on repeat. My favourite RHP, think Sun Kil Moon is a better project for Mark Kozelek
After a lot of listens, this is easily my second favorite RHP album after Down Colorful Hill. It blends the peaceful folk sound of Ghost of the Great Highway with slowcore, the latter of which is especially prominent on "Kavita" and "Cruiser." It has some of the best songs Kozelek ever wrote with his band (though at this point the band was basically just him), including "Void," "Between Days," "Cruiser," and "Smokey." "Between Days has a riff that I could listen to for hours, and "Smokey" has some beautiful dueling guitars. It someone manages to be more focused than Songs for a Blue Guitar while being more varied and sounding more vital than either of the band's self-titled albums.
It is not as good or creative as its predecessors, but this is still a really solid album with some beautiful songs such as Void or River. 8/10.
Much brighter and happier than the average RHP fare. Some of the songs are really touching ("Whop-a-Din-Din" is the most touching song ever written about someone's cat). Other songs (I'm looking at you, "Void") go on WAY too long and are just plain cheesy. The album is, however, enjoyable.
