Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some albums can have several thousand ratings)
This album has a Bayesian average rating of 71.6/100, a mean average of 70.7/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 71.5/100. The standard deviation for this album is 18.6.

So underrated
Fantastic album that rewards multiple listens.
Be Calm is brilliant, I Wanna Be the One has an infectious hop in its step, Light a Roman Candle With Me is perfected love pop and The Gambler is an excellent use of gospel choirs
Fantastic album
This is really a "fun" album. Reminds me of Queen a little bit
Amazing Indie rock with a mix of queen
I'm reluctantly falling more and more in love with this album every time I hear it.
Really loved this album. I listened to it a few years ago so I don't really remember the track by track but I remember really having enjoyed it and seeing the ELO connection that others have made. They went a little too ... autotuned on the next album, I think

THIS IS AMAZING!!!
The way the songs progress is just utterly fantastic. At Least I'm Not As Sad As I Used To Be is one of the greatest things I've heard this year. How this could possibly be labeled as... whatever I thought this was going to be like is just wrong.
Listen to this.
@dfulfo01 "he filled the venue from floor to ceiling with bubbles. it was actually pretty awesome"
That is awesome! I think I was there too! Toronto Mod Club?
Remember the format (and their "dog problems") ? The ringleader behind that group formed fun. and combined his carnival atmosphere with arena pop/rock harmonies a la queen or styx. Track 1 feels like the morning after dog problems, awaking with a slightly-different idea for a band that doesn't fully formulate on waking. The additional vocals don't really work either until track #2, but "benson hedges" brings more energy and catchy structure, but lacks the lyrical chops displayed on track #3 and beyond. That track, "all the pretty girls", is probably the best song former-The Format frontman Nate Reuss has penned yet. The harmonies remind me of late 70s/early 80s pop/rock. Elsewhere, the harmonies, which is the big addition from The Format, are sprinkled throughout. They remind me of roman candle's says pop at times which is ironic in light of there being a track called..."light a roman candle with me". The "na na"'s in "walking the dog" are infectious and the horns and soulful vocals in "barlights" are downright...fun.
