Rating metrics:
Outliers can be removed when calculating a mean average to dampen the effects of ratings outside the normal distribution. This figure is provided as the trimmed mean. A high standard deviation can be legitimate, but can sometimes indicate 'gaming' is occurring. Consider a simplified example* of an item receiving ratings of 100, 50, & 0. The mean average rating would be 50. However, ratings of 55, 50 & 45 could also result in the same average. The second average might be more trusted because there is more consensus around a particular rating (a lower deviation).
(*In practice, some artists can have several thousand ratings)
This artist has a Bayesian average rating of 74.8/100, a mean average of 74.5/100, and a trimmed mean (excluding outliers) of 74.5/100. The standard deviation for this artist is 13.8.

They had promise, but made the same record over and over again. In the end, they're a little generic.
A decent 90's band that had roots in Christian rock. Surprisingly good live band, at least when I saw them in 97.
Agree with the top three albums rank completely. One of my favorite bands (yeah, I was a college student from the 90's....)
Good band who has made some very good songs and some better than average albums. They fall in that category of I usually like listening to them when they come on but I rarely seem to seek them out.
Im sure you are right. But considering the tough ask to listen and review all albums ever made, c-soul consistently make albums that are solid and are my taste. I agree they arent ballsy at all, you can see that this is made up by another band on my chart.
It's just a bit bland for my liking. I dunno, rip the balls off Alice In Chains and turn off their amps and you have Collective Soul. Not the worst band in the world by a long shot, but I'm not sure it accounts for 33% of the top 10 albums ever made..
Your brother has great taste. Its not anything like Nickleback - its not aggressive, its not thoughtless, its not about going out getting drunk and hitting on chicks, its not religious (ok there are a few lyrics referring to their religioin, but you can find religious reference just about in any song by any artist). Good guitar hooks, intelligent & easy going lyrics. This band makes enjoyable rock... probably my fav band and if you could point out a flaw it would have to be that they rarely step outside there expertise - maybe a touch of experimental atmospheric layering under there catchy guitar and lyrics would do the trick. I dont think ive heard a crap song from these guys, very consistent, which Nickelback are not.
My brother listens to this shit all day along. I'm worried that it's going to start seeping into my subconscious and influence me. It's Nickleback featuring Jesus.
