Oh damn, I forgot about this guy! There was a point in my life where he was actually relevant in my life when he was the only decent thing to come up in the Top 40 singles charts back in 2009.
Now listening to him now, he's like a nerdier and a more pop orientated Sufjan Stevens who tried and failed to appeal to some of the Animal Collective snobs. I find his lyrics nowadays to be overly specific at times and are trying to be smart by adding descriptions and details that seem very weird.
The production is quite adequate and it's something that's not entirely special. There's the occasional key change or extra instumentation added to the mix. His sound can be described as "cute".
Of June is his best for me but it's not great or mind-blowing, Ocean Eyes is decent but his later material is something that seems too monotonous and dated.
He's very sugary and fun when he wants to be.
